Disney Series : Maleficent Inspired Makeup Look

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've done a makeup look for my Disney series. As some of you might know, a movie based on Maleficent, the evil queen from Sleeping Beauty, will be coming out in 2014. Maleficent will be played by Angelina Jolie.  Recently, the first images of Angelina Jolie desguised as Maleficent have been released. It has inspired me to revive my Disney series and to make a look inspired by this beloved Disney villain!

For this look, I was inspired by Maleficent's colors as well as her sharp features and horns. I went with a mint and black gradient with a pop of purple underneath. I chose to do a winged liner that elongates further than the tear duct. I quite like how it turned out! It's the first time I try this style of liner and while it's a little wobbly, I'm pretty happy with how it really ties this look together. Overall I'm very pleased! What do you all think of this one? Let me know in the comments ♥

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 13

Hello everyone! Today I'm doing the last of this series inspired makeup looks : District 13! District 13 is thought to have been annihilated during the rebellion, which means other districts are no longer in contact with it. Their industry used to be nuclear power.

If you haven't read second book or watched the second movie yet, do not read below it will contain spoilers which you might not want to know about. (or go ahead, but at you own risk if you like spoilers)

*SPOILER ALERT*

After book 2, we now know that district 13 in fact still exists, and has made a deal with the Capitol during the rebellion to be able to be independent from it. It's where Katniss is transported following the end of the second Hunger Games, where she will be the face of the rebellion. Basically, District 13 becomes the seat of the rebellion, which is why I took inspiration from that, rather than going for a nuclear theme. (which I wouldn't have known how to represent anyway). Katniss's mockingjay pin also becomes the symbol of the rebellion, which is what I chose to represent for this look. I got inspired by this image of the mockingjay pin over a black background :

*END OF SPOILER*

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 12 (The Girl on Fire)

Hey all! Today I have a makeup look that is inspired by District 12 of Panem from the Hunger Games. This is the Katniss Everdeen's district, where she grew up and lives with her family. The district's industry is mining, but I was more inspired to create a look to reflect the main character's persona rather than a look to represent mining.

The only colors I could think of for a mining themed look were black and gray, which would have ended up looking too much like District 2 for my liking. Therefore I decided to go another route for this one. Instead, I was inspired by the nickname that was given to Katniss by her stylist Cinna in book 1 of the series : The girl on fire

If I remember correctly it had something to do with her district in the first place, so it's not completely unrelated. Throughout books 1 and 2, the nickname has become a symbol of Katniss and her prowess in the Hunger Games, which is why I thought it was perfect to represent the Hunger Games winner of District 12, Katniss Everdeen.

This is another look that I decided to go quite literal for. I went for a flaming eye, nothing less! I hope you enjoy this look. Let me know in the comments what you think of it! ♥

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 10 (Livestock)

Hey all! Today I have a District 10 inspired makeup to share with you all! District 10's industry is livestock which is why I chose to go with earthy colors and a matte finish. I went for a white and brown smokey look on the upper lid to represent the colors of a brown and white spotted cow. The resason for this is when I think of livestock, the first farm animal that usually comes to my mind is a cow!  Then, I went for a nice green accent on the lower lid to represent the grass underneath the livestock. Basically, it's another one of my beloved pop of color looks! If you've been following me since earlier this year, you probably know how much I love those already. :P

Anyway, this is one of the most wearable looks I have done to date for this series, so I hope you enjoy it! Next up is District 11 which is agriculture and it will also be wearable, so look out for that one as well.

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 7 (Lumber)

Hey everyone! Today I have another Hunger Games inspired makeup look for you all! It's inspired by District 7 of Panem for which the main industry is lumber.

This time, I went all out whimsical and drew a tree branch complete with leaves on my eyes. I haven't mentioned this before, but a certain amount of my blog posts are done in advance and scheduled to a particular date so that I have blog posts going up regularly, even if I'm super busy with school, work or anything else. Lately, many of the looks I have done have been quite cartoon-like and I guess it's probably because Halloween is just around the corner as I write this. Anyway, just a random tidbit I felt like sharing!

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 6 (Transportation and Morphlings)

Hey everyone! Today I have another makeup look inspired by the Hunger Games to share! This time it's inspired by district 6! The main industry of district 6 is transportation. It is also a district that has struggled with morphling addiction following the horrors that certain contestants have faced during the games. Since I wasn't too inspired by the transportation theme on its own, I thought I would combine both to create a look that best represents the district's most characteristic features.

As far as transportation is concerned, it inspired me to create a slate grey and black look on the upper lid to represent the color of the roads and tires. For the morphling aspect I went with a bright rainbow underneath the eye.

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 4 (Fishing)

Hey everyone! Today I'm back again with the Hunger Games series! I'm getting more and more excited about the movie release at this point and this series is only making it that much harder to wait (but also that much more exciting!).  The movie comes out in two weeks if I'm not mistaken. I kind of want to re-read the series to get myself ready for the movie, but I'm not sure I have enough time with school and work. Anyway, this is district four, the fishing district.

I went quite literal for this one and I and basically drew a swimming fish on my eye. This is obviously as unwearable as it gets, but it looks really cool in my opinion. Let me know what you think!

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 3 (Technology/Electronics)

Hey all! Today, I'm continuing the Hunger Game series with a makeup look inspired by District 3 of Panem. It's the technology  district and most of its inhabitants are skilled and work with electronics. They also build various mechanical objects.

When I think electronics and technology, I think silver and futuristic and when I think mechanical, I think bolts, straight angles, robots (yep, ahaha), etc. I kind of combined all of what the theme inspired me to imagine into one awesome (at least I think so :P) makeup look! Check it out and I hope you enjoy this!

The Hunger Games Inspired Makeup Series : District 2

Hey everyone! I'm back with district two today! District two is where most peacekeepers are trained and it's pretty much considered the weapon district. It's also known for its stone quarries which a lot of the District's inhabitants work in.

Because of that, I decided to go with a really dramatic black and slate color theme, with just a hint of green to keep things interesting. To me, this dark and intense look represents the stones and the deeps of the undergrounds, but also the somber reality surrounding weapons. I'm not expressing my thoughts very clearly, but to me, weapons and stones are synonymous with deep shades and dramatic shapes. So check out what I came up with :

The Hunger Games Makeup Inspired Series : District 1

Hey everyone! In honor of the second movie of the Hunger Games coming out this month, I decided that I would do a Hunger Games inspired series! I adored the book series and I thought the first movie was really well done, so I'm really looking forward to the second movie coming out! To celebrate that and because I think it's going to make it even more fun to wait for the movie's release, I will be doing a makeup look inspired by each district of Panem and will post them every other day until the movie comes out! Who else is excited for the movie's release?

The first district is District one, which is responsible for the luxury industry, meaning gems, furs, perfumes and such. When I think of luxury I think of precious gems and all the beautiful colors associated with them. That's why I went for this jeweled tone color scheme. I hope you enjoy this!

October 2013 Favorites

Hey everyone! Today I'm doing my October favorites! Yay! I know I haven't done one last month (sorry :X), it's because I had a three week long internship in Montreal and I didn't have any time to prepare my favorites, so this month will have a bit more stuff than usual. It's going to include my favorites since the beginning of September and a few random favorites as well. I'm also starting a new favorites section which I don't usually do, the monthly fashion favorites! So with this say, let's get onto the favorites.

Makeup

- Garnier BB Cream for Normal to Oily Skin : Love this stuff, decent coverage, comfortable on the skin, love it! Got it on sale too, which is always a bonus.

- L'Oréal Magic Lumi Face Primer : Doesn't feel siliconey on the skin (not a fan of that) and helps foundation glide on and look nicer on the skin. Really expensive for drugstore though :X

- Quo Palette : Present from my bf ♥ at the end of September. My first Quo product and I love it! Super pigmented shadows and beautiful blushes. Been wearing the blushes all month.
- ZA Two Way Cake Powder Foundation : Only powder that will keep me shine free all day long lately.

- Stila Highlighting Duo in Kitten : Gives the most beautiful sheen on the skin. Worn everyday in September and October.

- L'Oréal Magic Lumi Foundation : Way too expensive (18$ at Jean Coutu), but I got this on sale. Nice finish, great coverage and the color matches me perfectly.

- Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara : Holy Grail Mascara, enough said.

- Garnier Roll-on concealer and treatment : very thin consistency, but nice coverage. Feels cooling on the skin, very pleasant. Usually overpriced, but I got this in a set at a super discount.

- Real Techniques Brushes : Contouring brush and expert face brush. Love these, super soft, dense and they're multi-purpose.

- Eco Tools Powder brush : nice for a light dusting of powder on the skin because of the tulip shape and the not too dense bristles. Very soft.

-UD All Nighter Setting Spray : Helps lock in your makeup when sprayed before and after makeup application. Expensive, but worth it.

-Wet n Wild Color Icon Highlight in Reserve your Cabana : Been looking for this powder for ages and I finally got my hands on it. Very subtle highlight, can be worn all over the skin for a nice dewy skin look.

- OPI Nail polish in Dulce de Leche : My first OPI and I'm not disapointed. Super easy to apply, nice staying power and this color is the perfect nude for my skin tone.

- Sephora Pencil Liner (Forest Green) : amazing staying power and super creamy. Very affordable too (11$). Seems like it could be comparable to UD 24/7 Liners for a fraction of the price. Incredible color selection (over 15 shades I think).

- NYX Slide on Pencil (Metallic Blue) : also an amazing liner. Similar consistency to the Sephora Pencil. Great color selection as well.

- E.l.f Black Liquid Liner : Never thought this would be my fave when I picked it up at Dollorama for the 20$ makeup challenge. Super thin applicator, very precise and stays on all day, love it!

- Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze : perfect to be worn on its own or underneath and taupey shadow. Stays on all day.

- Ardell Wispies Lashes : another product I've been wanting for ages and I'm not disappointed. They look great on and you can barely feel them.

Fashion and Accessories
Sorry for the awkward mirror pics, I'm not really used to taking outfit pictures lol.

Outfit 1 : Flared blue jeans (20$ from Winners) with sheer black High Low blouse with gold hardware (10$ from Dynamite) and imitation suede caramel colored pointy flats with a bow. (4.50$ from Ardène)

Outfit 2 : Caramel colored faux leather bomber jacket (70$ from Garage) with black jeggings (40$ from Garage), burnt orange, blue, white and black tribal motif scarf (2$ from Ardène) and caramel colored booties with gold buckle (60$ from Verona).

Outfit 3 : My snuggling outfit! It's an essential for me during the colder months! Black tank top (15$ from Colori - any comfy top works perfectly too), with hello kitty red and black plaid pyjama pants (15$ from Winners) and Jack Skellington Slippers (20$ from China Town).

In case you're wondering why my Ardène picks are so inexpensive, it's because I usually go at Ardène Dépôt stores, which sell older collections for 70% off!

Food

I haven't been eating very healthy ever since I left for my internship. I also got a new job, which means I have little time for cooking and no motivation for healthy eating. It's been getting colder also so I'm kind of leaning towards comfort food and junk. I've been particularly into :

- Soups in general are really comforting to me,  but I've been especially craving Spicy Kimchi Ramen with added strips of nori and hard boiled egg.
- Gold Fish *drools*
- Fibre 1 brownies which are only 110 calories and 5g of fiber. They taste delicious! I guess it's kind of an healthy treat when you think about it. Much better than most brownies anyway.
- Flavored hot chocolate, especially Rolo flavored, nom!

Random

TV :
- Vampire Diairies (very fitting for this month isn't it :P)
- The Nightmare Before Christmas (as always during october , I like to watch my favorite Halloween classic, I also listen to the soundtrack on repeat lol)
- Netflix!

Books :
- Uprising by Imogen Rose (Bonfire Academy Series)
- Angel and Demons by Dan Brown

Now that I think about it, all my tv and book favorites are totally Halloween appropriate, how funny :P

Shops :
- Target!!!! They have just opened here in Quebec and I'm really excited to go shopping there. I've been once so far and I was quite happy with the cosmetics sections. Too bad we still don't have E.l.f though...
---

That's all for this month's favorites! I hope you enjoyed this! Let me know if you would like to see more fashion and random favorites in the future :)

Latest movie fave : How to train your dragon

From the beginning of How to Train your dragon, I didn’t think I would like this movie very much. The setting isn’t what I’m usually attracted to, so I didn’t except what came next! I absolutely adore this movie. I am in love with the main character’s dragon: Toothless ♥. He reminds me of one of my cats, because he acts just the same! (He likes to get his chin scratched, he loves to roll in the grass and loves to eat fish and chase lights ^^).

The movie is super cute and the story is unexpected. I’ve loved everything about from start to finish. I could probably listen to this movie nonstop :D Have you seen this movie? What did you think about it?

I think this might very well have made it to my top 3 favourite movies of all time! I also just discovered that it was taken from the first book of a book series. MUST read! :D
