Collective Makeup Haul : Drugstore, Amazon, Winners

Hey everyone! Today I have a relatively small collective haul to share! I got some of stuff off amazon (first time I tried and I was really happy! Fast shipping and everything was intact), and from Winners in addition to the drugstore.

- The peach colored compact is the Stila Duo Highlighter in Kitten that Shaaanxo has been raving about lately in her videos. It was 15$ on Amazon.com so I had to grab it! It's usually around 30$ at Canadian Sephora stores :(

- The Nyx stuff is from Amazon.com also. Some of the drugstores around me do carry NYX products, but none of them have the blushers and the glosses.

- The mascara and gel liner are from the drugstore.

- The Maybelline palette is from Amazon.com. We do have Maybelline here in Canada, but I've never seen this palette sold, so I picked it up online. I think it was 7$.

- I got the Ardell lashes at Winners. They don't have them often, but when they do, they're half the price of what I can get them at the drugstore. Love this fun style.

Hard Candy Tiki Bronzer Review

Hey all! Today I have another review to share! I'm reviewing the Hard Candy Baked Bronzer in Tiki! I haven't included this one with the other bronzers in my recent Drugstore and High-end bronzer review because, even though it's called a bronzer, it's really more of an highlight. At least, that's what I use it for! Let get on with the review :)

Color : Tiki is a pale golden champagne shimmery color. Nothing like a bronzer as you can see from the swatch on my hand below!

Swatch

Texture & Application
: The powder is not too powdery so not too much product will get loose when you put a brush into it. However, it's still quite soft. Because not too much product comes of on your brush, I prefer using a more dense brush like the Real Techniques contour brush or their large blending brush. The product is quite pigmented so you don't need a lot to get a nice sheen of your cheekbones.

Finish
: Because of the shimmery finish of the highlighter, you will get a glowy golden effect to the skin when you apply Tiki.

Packaging : I don't like all of Hard Candy's packaging, but this is cute. The compact feels sturdy and closes well. It's the right size so that it's easy to store.

Price
: 6 or 7$ Not sure exactly anymore how much I paid for it.

Overall
: Great drugstore, inexpensive highlighter! It's so hard to find highlighter at the drugstore, so I'm really thrilled. I love the look it gives my cheekbones, especially when I have a little bit of a tan or if a go for a bronzed look. I would definitely repurchase, not that I will go through this any time soon! I don't have anything negative to say about it really! 9/10

Harry Potter Series : Ravenclaw Inspired Makeup [Take 2]

Hey all! Today I thought I would resurrect one of my old series, inspired by the four Hogwarts houses! Two years ago, I did 4 makeup looks, inspired by Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. I thought I'd redo them since my makeup techniques have changed quite a bit since then. Today I'm starting with Ravenclaw. Also, check out the first Ravenclaw inspired makeup I did two years ago here.

I think Ravenclaw is definitely the look I have improved most upon (the other houses are coming soon, you will see what I mean then). Back when I did the old look, I didn't feel very inspired by the color combination and I didn't know how to make it work so it turned out no so great. I have more practice with unusual color combos now (not that bronze and blue is all that unusual :P), so I think it turned out much better this time. What do you think?

Products used :

Eye Bases
  • UDPP
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad To the Bronze

Eye shadow & Brows
  • Wet n Wild Palette in Blue Had Me at Hello
  • Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette
  • Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
  • Milani Brow Fix

Liner & Lashes
  • Kiss 05 Lashes
  • Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
  • Black Liquid Liner (Unknown brand)
  • Milani Liquif'Eye eyeliner pencil in black

Which version of this look do you prefer? The old one or the updated one? Let me know in the comments! :D

Back To School Series : What's In My School Bag

Hey everyone! Since school is fast approaching, I thought I'd share what I bring with me in my school bag everyday, including what my necessities are when I'm in school. I hope this is helpful to any of you going back to class in September! Keep in mind that I'm in university though, so my needs are probably a little different than what you need in high school. Anyway, let's get on with it!

My School Bag
This is my current school bag! It's a grey Jansport bag which I have had for a few years now and it's still going strong! I really like the Jansport brand, all the bags I have from them are super durable and well built. I chose this grey color because it's timeless and matches everything.

What I bring to school everyday

This is what I bring with me on a regular basis. It changes a bit according to my mood, but that's mostly what I usually bring.

- 1 or 2 binders depending on my classes that day. Check out my How To Stay Organised post to see what I keep inside my binders!
- A calculator
- My phone
- Multi Colored Pens to take notes. Makes things a little more interesting for me!
- A makeup bag containing all my necessities
- My keys
- My Wallet
- My Glasses
- My Nexus 7 Tablet. This is a new addition in my school bag. First of all I just got it (it came out like a week ago I think), but I also usually bring my laptop instead. However, my laptop is bulky and I tend to spend more time surfing the web than I would want when I bring it so I thought bringing my tablet to school would be a good compromise!
- A Lock
- My Pencil case

Necessities
This makeup bag contains all my small necessities on an everyday basis. I keep the same kind of stuff in my purse when I'm not in school or on weekends. As you can see, I don't actually bring makeup with me in the makeup bag XD

- Medication (for allergy, motion sickness, bandages, that kind of thing)
- Tissues
- Mints
- Compact mirror
- Blotting sheets
- Mini Hair brush
- Lip balm
- Hand sanitizer
- Tide to go pen
- Hand cream
- Body Spray
- Hair elastics

What's in my pencil case
Last, we have my pencil case! It's usually quite full because I like to be prepared for anything. I like to bring :

- Post it Notes
- Erase
- Spare staples
- Mini stapler
- Led
- Sharpies
- Highlighters
- Mechanical pencils
- Correcting liquid
- Usb Drive*
Post it tab*

* I like to keep those in ziploc bags to protect them from any dirt or pencil stains that can accumulate in the pencil case.

---

That's all I bring to school everyday! I'm usually well prepared for anything that might come my way. I don't really have any books to bring with me since all my classes provide power point notes. Let me know what your school essentials are or if I missed anything in the comments! Have a good beginning of the school year everyone!

August 2013 Beauty and Random Favorites

Beauty Favorites

Victoria Secret Very Sexy Body Spray : it's a little heavier and sweeter than the other Victoria Secret fragrance that I have. I like this one in the evening.

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil : Leaves my hair silky smooth and very soft. It's smells amazing and it's super affordable.

Lush Lip Scrub : Gets rid of ALL the dead skin on my lips, like absolutely nothing else. Completely obsessed with this.

Ardell 120 Demi Lashes : I love that these lashes flare out at the outer corners. It really gives a nice look to the lashes.

Maybelline Color Tattoo (Bad to the Bronze and Barely Branded) : I've been loving using these bases under natural makeup looks. The two shades that are my favorites are exactly what I need for daily use.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer : a favorite for a long time now, and the sample size is still going strong!

Eco Tools Brushes : I love their powder brush, their buffing brush, their large flat shading brush and their smudge brush (which I use as a pencil brush) lately. I use them every time I do a makeup look.

Real Techniques brushes : Lately I'm using the Expert face brush, the contour brush and the large blending brush (which I use for concealer and cream highlighting products) a lot . Love the quality of these.

Black Eyeliner : Got this in Thailand, not sure of the brand, but it's my go-to eyeliner at the moment.

Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Honey : Love the texture and great color. It's comfortable on the lips and stays on for a while. Really easy to wear on a day-to-day basis.

Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara : Still loving this mascara. I think it's been in every favorite for the past six months. Shows just how much I love this thing.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk : Very useful base for colorful looks. It will make any color pop.

Rimmel London blush in Bronze : I like the formula of this blush (the texture is silky and it's easy to apply), and it gives a nice bronzey look to the cheeks, perfect for summer.

Milani Brow Fix Brow Kit in Light : Perfect color for my eyebrows. I use this all the time now!

Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macademia : this smells amazing, kind of like vanilla cake. Also, I love the packaging.

Favorites accessories

All of these bracelets and earrings are from Ardène, except the one that is on the far left, and the black and gold anklet.  The first one is a friendship bracelet with turtle patterns that I made myself and the anklet I got in Thailand last year.

Colors of the Rainbow Tag

Hey everyone! Today I'm doing the colors of the rainbow tag! I've seen this tag floating around the Internet for a while now and I think it's a lot of fun so I'm doing it for you today :)

I chose products that I love to represent each of the rainbow's colors. I think some of the colors are a bit different (blue instead of indigo, purple instead of violet) and I added pink also, but you get the point right? :P Anyway, let's get started!

♥ My rainbow favorites ♥

~ Red ~
For most of these, I went with the color of the packaging, since I don't have that many green or yellow makeup items per say. However, for red, I went for the color of the actual product rather than the packaging. I chose the Cherry Babylips by Maybelline. It's a nice red lipbalm that gives off a sheer tint of red to the lips and smells heavenly!

~ Orange ~
I got this face wash recently. I'm in love with the scrubbie thing that comes with it. It makes my face feel nice and clean, but also refreshed. The pretty orange bottle matches my current bathroom color scheme which is a bonus!

~ Yellow ~
This is another product that I got recently. It's the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil. It seems to leave my hair just as soft and shiny as my Chi Silk Infusion, but for a fraction of the price. I paid 8$ for this pretty big bottle. I also love that it is in spray form, which is a lot less messy. The smell is also wonderful. Love this! ♥

~ Green ~
This is the Clump Crusher mascara by Covergirl. It's probably my favorite mascara of all time. I've been using it nonstop ever since I got it back in January. It's probably time to replace it now, but it's still going strong. Makes my lashes super full and long without clumping. Best mascara ever! :)

~ Blue ~
I've been using this makeup remover on and off for years now. I have tried out a few other brands, but I keep going back to this Neutrogena Oil-Free one. As you can see, I'm almost through with this bottle as well. It works great to remove all my eye makeup, including waterproof mascara.

~ Purple ~
For purple, I chose this loose shadow by Darling Girl Cosmetics. Now, I have a ton of purple shadows in my collection, but this one was really a standout for me. It is magnificent. It's a beautiful light purple color with a strong blue/turquoise shift. It looks simply amazing when applied. If you're curious about how it looks on, check out the looks I made using it here and here.

 ~ Pink ~
Lastly, for pink, I chose this aptly named body spray from Pink by Victoria Secret. This is the Wild at heart scent. I picked it up a couple months ago on a trip to Montreal and ever since it has been my go-to everyday scent. It's light and citrusey, which I love for summer. Great fragrance!

Today I'm doing a school supplies haul! :) I went shopping for supplies while I was in Montreal and I got a few things I needed. I still have lots of good stuff left from previous years and university isn't specific on what you need to have, so what I chose I 100% based on what I needed and what I like to use to stay organised.

I find school supplies really exciting for some reason, so I'm really happy to be sharing this with you all today! I got some of it from Walmart and the rest I got at Staples.

What I got

- Paper Mate Mechanical Pencil Pack : my favourite pencils!
- Post-It Cube
- Sheet Protectors
- Plastic Separators : You can write with pens on the tab, I like the idea!
- Notebooks
- 3 Flexible 1 inch Binders : I prefer the flexible kind because it's less bulky and easier to transport
- Steadler Colored Pens : don't really need those, but I thought they'd be fun to use while studying.
- Refill Lead for Mechanical Pencils
- Post-It Tabs : very useful when I'm studying

---
