NOTD : Easy Spring Nail art - Pastel Gradient with Leopard Print!

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing my current manicure because in my opinion it's super exciting! I ordered some nail art plates recently on DealExtreme (check out my haul), so I couldn't wait to try out the printed nail look!

Since Spring is around the corner, I went for pastels and I added with leopard (or is it cheetah?) print on top! Super easy and really cool looking ♥

I cannot get over these nails, I'm so happy with them!
What do you think of these nails? Let me know in the comments :D

Deal Extreme Haul #2 : Beauty, Nails, Accessories, Cute

Hi everyone! Recently I mentionned that I had made another order on Dealextreme.com! Well, it took a while to get here, but I've got everything so I wanted to show you. Deal Extreme has free shipping, but it does take a while to arrive. In fact, my order was sent in 5 partial shipments over a month period which means many trips to the postal office for me XD It was a bit bothersome, but at least I got everything now.

This is actually my third purchase from DealExtreme, but I didn't post the second one on here because it was mostly Christmas gifts, so I didn't want to receivers to know beforehand what they were getting. Anyway, I love this online store! Check out what I got from DealExtreme in the past : DealExtreme Haul part 1, part 2.

♥ First I got this cute teddy bear cellphone holder! It's super practical and really adorable ♥

♥ Then I got a purple brush holder (it's empty), for when I travel for a short period of time (meaning for when I'm not backpacking. I wouldn't bring this backpacking because it's way too bulky and heavy.) I was really surprised by how sturdy and heavy this product is. I kind of half expected it to be flimsy and cheaply made, but it's really a nice quality. I'm very happy with it and I cannot wait to test drive it when we go to Montreal soon.

♥ Third thing I got is an awesome sushi-shaped cellphone charm. My phone doesn't have anywhere to attach it to so I use it as a key chain. It's so realistic looking, I love it :)

♥ I also got this Hello Kitty soap dispenser. I use it for dish soap and it looks real cute by the sink in the kitchen. DealExtreme used to carry loads of Hello Kitty merchandise, but they took almost all of it off their website. When I found this, I just had to jump on the opportunity.

♥ I got this cute gold Eiffel tower necklace which was really cheap. As you can tell, I removed it from its chain (it was a really long, brown leather sort of thing which I didn't find very attractive). I want to get a long gold chain for it. For now I use it for decoration on my makeup table :)

♥ I love the bracelet that I got. It's super sparkly even though you can't really tell by the picture. I've been wearing it non stop recently. I've even received compliments on it and it was only a few bucks :) score!

♥ Second to last thing is a bunch of nail art stamping plates. I even got one with an Hello Kitty face on it. I'm sooo stocked! I've been looking for one of these for ages. I can't wait to play with it. Expect loads of nails of the day in the near future :P

♥ Last thing I got is more stamping plates! Actually this is just one super large nail plate with a bunch of different designs. I love that it has loads of all over the nail designs. It has zebra, lace, polka dots, leopard, fruits, bows etc. It got a bit bent during shipping, but it still works properly. I love it and I'm really excited about it. It super large, it's bigger than a sheet of paper. I was really surprised when I received the package since I wasn't expecting it to be this big.

That's all I got from DealExtreme recently. Once again, I'm super pleased with my purchase and I would definitely order again. The partial shipment issue was a bit annoying though. Hopefully it won't happen to me again. (especially since I only ordered 12 items - my boyfriend got a couple of watches). Have you ever ordered from the site? Were you happy with what you got? Let me know in the comments! I'd love to know your experiences.

Easy Nail Art Tutorial : Galaxy Nails

I've seen a few pictures of Galaxy Nails recently and I must say, I think they look amazing! When I learned that they were made with the sponging technique, I had to jump on the band wagon and make my own. I'll show you how I achieved these cute galaxy nails. It's super easy and even nail art beginners can make this design easily. The proof is that I'm satisfied with mine and I'm usually no good when it comes to painting my nails :P

First off, here are the tools you will need to achieve the Galaxy Nails :

I forgot to add the pale pink polish I used in this picture

  • Nail polish remover for touch ups (I'm using 100% acetone, which is quite drying for the cuticles, but works great for precise cleanups around the edges. If you choose this method, make sure you have either a cuticle cream or at least a good hand cream to apply afterwards)
  • 7 nail polishes : 1 black, 1 grey, 1 purple, 1 navy blue, 1 pale pink, 1 glittery top coat, 1 glitter polish.
  • Top Coat
  • Cosmetic sponge (it has to be porous, if it's dense it won't work properly)
  • Small rounded brush for clean ups (you can also use cotton buds)
  • Cuticle cream or moisturizing hand lotion
1) Start with a black base :

Kind of looks messy at this point because I didn't bother to clean up neatly yet
2) On the flat side of the cosmetic sponge, place a small amount of purple polish in the shape of a circle. Using a paper towel, sponge off the excess polish until only a small amount of polish comes off at a time. We want the colors to be subtle and blend in with the background. Start sponging the color on the nails. Don't do the whole nail,  choose a small section and sponge the color lightly. Change the position and shape of your sponging for each nail.

I used one corner for each color. That's how my sponge looked like at the end of the manicure.

As you can see the purple is quite subtle.

3) Repeat the process with the three other colors. The colors can overlap. Leave a portion of the nail black to create more depth. Wait for a minute or so in between each color to allow the polish to dry. This shouldn't take very long since the polish is applied in very thin layers by the sponging technique.

First add the blue (sorry this looks messy)

Then add the grey

Finally add the pink
4) Cover the nails with a glittery top coat. This will help the look come together  It should look like stars in the sky.

The picture is a little blurry because my camera had a hard time focusing on the nails after I applied the glitter.
5) Add the glittery polish. I chose a blue glitter with large round glitter pieces and small glitter. You could choose a silver one also. Don't place this all over the nail. Only apply it to portions of the nail and vary the placement from one nail to another. Try to avoid placing too many large glitter pieces so to not overwhelm the design.

6) Add a clear top coat to protect the design from chipping.

7) Clean up the edges with a small brush or with cotton buds.

And you're done! Pretty easy right? I'm quite pleased with the results. My camera doesn't do the design justice, it is much nicer in real life :)

That's it for this super easy nail art tutorial! Let me know if you'd like to see more of these and tell me if you try these galaxy nails, I'd love to see yours ♥

Easy Nail Art : Ombré Nails

I haven't done a nail art post in a while on here! Lately I've been obsessed with gradient/ombré nails. I've been making a few variations of them. They're super easy to make, even a nail art newbie like myself can make them look nice!

Here's a few of my creations (excuse the bad image quality on some of these, I've taken some of them with my phone)

First gradient. Looked better in real life.

Pretty purple gradient. This one also looked better in the flesh. My middle finger is kind of messed up though.

Loved these. They would be perfect for Valentine's day.

My nails for Vegas. Sparkly! ♥

My latest gradient :) Reminds me of a sunset.
I could do a tutorial for these if anyone was interested. Let me know in the comments and I'd be happy to make one. (might make one anyway, even if no one asks :P)

Simple contrasting stripped Nail Art

Since my last nail art success I've been motivated to try out new designs on my nails. This one was more of a challenge, since stamping is very easy.

The hardest part was drawing the stripes to be about the same width and to be straight. Also working whit a white base (it's an old polish to make it worse) took some work, since it needed three coats to be opaque.

Overall, I think that I did a pretty good job. Obviously working with my non dominant hand was a challenge which means my right hand looks a little more sloppy, but the whole thing is pretty clean looking nonetheless. The design is simple, very contrasting and fun!

What do you all think? Should I keep posting nail art?

Simple Neon Pink Konad Manicure

I bought a Konad starter kit just before I left for Central America so I haven't had time to post a manicure using it yet! I did this neon pink, butterfly manicure today for fun and it turned out pretty cute so I thought I would share the idea!

That's all I used to create this

My pointer finger's buttefly is distorted because I'm still a newbie at stamping. By the way, this is my dominant hand, not bad right? The Konads are really easy to use once you get the hang of it :D I cannot wait to try out more intricate style.

It was super easy too!

I have to also mention that this was my first time using the Sèche Vite! It's hard to tell at the moment if it's as amazing as everyone say it is, but it did dry very quickly and did not smudge my designs which is a good start! Now let's see how it protects the polish from chipping!

Nail art design ideas

These are nail art design ideas I came up with and decided to share with you all. When I'm bored I like to play with fake nails and decorate them with nail art. It's much easier for me to practice and experiment with nail art this way since it's much easier to paint on nails that are not attached to your hand :P (right it's kind of cheating, because it makes it really easy!)

So I have accumulated a collection of nail art designs ideas I have made. It's good inspiration for when I actually want to do something on my nails. Some of my designs are a little messy looking, but I'm still learning :) Also, a couple designs are inspired by nail art tutorials I have seen in the past, so not all these designs are original!

What's is your favorite design? Tell me in the comments! Which one should I do a tutorial for? Do you have any other nail art design ideas you suggest I should try?

Sally Hansen Fingernail Polish : Crackle in Distressed Jean

Sally Hansen Fingernail Polish is quickly become my favorite brand of nail polish. The quality is great and the collections and colors are really enticing. The brand came out with a new crackle polish to go along with the recent crackle craze and I just had to try it! It's the first drugstore crackle I see :) I'm glad I can try this out without having to hunt for OPI or China Glaze.

So far, my thoughts on this is that it's little difficult to do it properly, but the effect is really cool. It was 6.69$ which is quite expensive if you keep in mind that China Glaze and OPI usually retail for about 7-10$. However, since here in Montreal, these brands are very hard to come by, and since the drugstore prices for polishes are normally quite high (4-14$ approximately), it's not that bad!

This Sally Hansen fingernail polish also came in white, silver, pink, a duo chrome purple and another color that I cannot remember (red maybe?).

This is how it looks on my nails :D

What do you guys think? Do you like this crackle trend? Will you purchase the Sally Hansen ones?

Easy Nail Art : Colorblocking

I'm not really one to follow trends. In fact, I rarely like what's in style at the moment, but I think colorblocking is really cool =)

With that being said, my imitating of this sping's trend on my nails was totally unintentional. I guess I was inspired by it subconsciously or something =p (or not, ahah)

Anyway, it was really easy, but at little time consuming. In the end, I'm quite pleased with the results!

What do you guys think?

Easy Nail Art : Silver and Blue

I made this super easy nail art today! I really have poor nail painting skills, so if I can do this, anyone can!

This is how I did it step by step ♥ I really love the outcome!

What you will need
(you could probably do this with any color combo! Today I chose blue)
Nail polish remover to clean up any mess, Glittery silver nail art polish, Blue polish, Glitter top coat, clear top coat, small brush or cotton swab for clean ups, orange stick or tooth pick, circle rhinestones

Step one
Paint your nails with the blue polish

Step two
Add one coat of the glitter top coat

Step three

With the nail art polish, draw two somewhat curvy horizontal stripes. They don't have to be perfectly parallel or anything.

Step four
Add a top coat. This will work as a glue for our rhinestones. Before it dries, dip your orange stick into a tiny bit of the top coat and use it to place three rhinestones between the two silver lines like shown.

You're done! Easy right?
