Rock climbing in Montreal

Rock climbing in Montreal is easy, but there are some steps to take in order to be able to do it independently. First, find a rock climbing gym (I think there is a couple), then before you can climb independently in a gym, you need to take a course and pass an exam to prove that you understand the principles well. We booked a class and both succeeded in getting our climbing licence J. 

Ever since, we have gone back at least three times to climb and have purchased most of the gear necessary. You can simply rent the equipment every time you go climbing, but if you climb frequently, the investment of getting your own gear is quickly returned.

We both got a starter kit, which included everything but the rope and shoes. We also got the shoes separately.

I really love climbing! Even though I’m typically afraid of heights, I feel like rock climbing is the perfect sport for me. It allows me to push my limits safely. Plus, it’s fun, exhilarating and an amazing workout! Your whole body works while climbing! I really glad I can do rock climbing in Montreal ♥

My favourite TV series

Ever since I’ve started Cegep, I haven’t had time to go out very much. Anytime I had some time off, it wasn’t long enough that I could undertake much of anything at all. Even though I didn’t have time to go out, I needed some distractions to take my mind off of school. That’s when I started watching tv series.

I soon became addicted to watching all kinds of series and searching for new ones. I used to think series were all cheesy and that I wouldn’t like them. Well, I was very wrong! I’ve discovered many great tv series which are not only entertaining, but really well written and interesting.

Since I always like to discover new series, I’ve decided to compile a list of all my favourite shows, in no particular order. Maybe it’ll make you find something you didn’t know and will enjoy, who knows =p

Making origami

When I’m bored, I like to make origami! From shrimps and hearts, to 3D starts, spiders and samurai hats, the art of folder paper can be extremely diverse and entertaining! ♥

I was first introduced to origami by one of my very good friends in high school. She showed me how to make origami stars and hearts with metro transfers. Since then, I’ve been doing a little bit of origami in my spare time. I bought squared coloured origami paper and countless types and colours of special star origami paper.

It’s super fun, but it can get really frustrating and time consuming when you are trying to make a complicated model. Nothing worse than spending half an hour on a difficult origami and realise you screwed up. The worst part is, I cannot make a reverse fold for the life of me. Of course, most cool designs require them, bummer =( I've tried to make a Yoda origami in the past, but I simply cannot get the hang of it!

With a little practice though I’ve been able to achieve a few cool ones like a shrimp, a spider, some fishies and flowers =D

IMAX, is the price really worth it?

For our Valentines’ day date, my boyfriend and I took a day off and went out to eat and watch a movie downtown. We wanted to see the recent movie Tron and the movie theatre we went to only had it in IMAX. Great, we thought, we have never tried IMAX this should be really cool!

Well, it wasn’t. I mean, the movie was great and I really enjoyed the storyline, but the IMAX part was rubbish! I didn’t find that it made much of a difference at all. Maybe the image had a little more depth but that’s it! 17$ for a little bit of depth? Is it just me, or is that a little bit excessive? We we’re really taken aback when we bought our tickets at first! 38$ for a 2h movie O_O ? It was a special date so we decided to go with it, but I definitely think it wasn’t worth it. Is it just me? Or maybe that particular movie did not have much 3D but others do?

Another annoying thing was that I had to wear my glasses underneath the 3D glasses (I only wear them in school and when I go out to the movies). It was very uncomfortable and I ended up spending my whole evening with red marks from the glasses on my nose =S Anyway, I wouldn’t recommend seeing this movie in IMAX. If I were to do it again, I’d probably wait for it to come out in DVD.
