Cover Girl Clump Crush Mascara (Water Resistant Formula) Review and Pictures

Hey everyone! Today I have a mascara review to share with you all. I will be reviewing the Clump Crusher Mascara by Cover Girl! If you've been following me for a while, you probably already know how I feel about this mascara since I'm constantly raving about it, but today I decided I would go more into specifics as to why I love it so much. This way you all will have a better idea of whether or not this mascara would suit your lashes and your tastes!

Along with the review, I have included before and after pictures of my lashes using the mascara to help you visualize what results you can get when using the mascara. Keep in mind though that my lashes are quite straight, sparse, relatively short and have a tendency to grow in odd directions. Therefore, I don't have nicest lashes to begin with, which means if you naturally have long lushious lashes, this mascara would probably wield even better results for you! Anyway, let's get on with the review! :)

Overview
Formula : on the dry side
Packaging : Plastic green matte tube, slightly domed in the middle. Not the prettiest in my opinion, but stays quite clean looking even after owning it a few months.
Brush : Medium sized with somewhat short, but firm plastic bristles that will easily get to the base of the lashes and grab every single lash . It's a little bit curved.
Ease of removal : Not too much trouble when using a oil-free makeup remover.
Price : 6.96$ CAD at Walmart

Before and After

Does it
Smudge? Not the water resistant formula that I use no. Cannot say for the regular kind.

Clump? Almost none. Obviously if you add 5+ coats it might start to smudge a bit, especially if you've had the mascara for a while (more than a few weeks), but other than that it's very buildable and you can layer it on without fearing for clumps. It definitely lives up to its name for me.

Define? Yes it really separates every lashes giving a nice defined look to the lashes.

Hold a curl? Yes

Lengthen? Yes

Add volume? Yes, quite a lot of it, but it's the clump free kind, which is nice if that's what your looking for.

Is it really water resistant? More or less. It cannot withstand warm water (will run and stick to the skin underneath your eyes), but won't move around during the day if you have oily lids or if your eyes water or get misted by rain or snow.

Would purchase again?
Yes, it's my holy grail mascara and the only one I have been using since last January.  It's the only mascara that really gives me all I want for my straight, short, sparse and every-direction growing lashes.

Overall
You will love it if you like rubber bristle brushes, curved brushes, clump-free volume, separated/defined looking lashes. For reference, other mascaras that I love include The Colossal and The Falsies by Maybelline.

Grade : A+

March 2013 Beauty Favorites

Hello everyone! March is coming to an end so it's time for monthly favorites! This month I have a few really nice new products that I have been enjoying quite a lot recently, a couple repeat favorites and a few items that I have rediscovered! Check out last month's favorites!

- Duo Clear Eyelash Glue : sticks very well and doesn't sting my eyes. It's great!

- Nude Tude Palette : I've mentioned this so many times this month. It's just amazing. Full review

- Sally Hansen Nail polish in Angel Wings : Beautiful opalescent sheer color. Pretty over all of Spring's pastels colors.♥

- Real Techniques Fine Liner brush : my absolute favorite lately for precise wing liner with gel.

- Real Techniques Expert face brush : love it for foundation and blush. Super soft.

- Clump Crusher Mascara : repeat favorite, makes my lashes really big, but not spidery.

- NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk : Great base for colorful looks.

- NYX Lashes in 109 - Rebel : Criss-cross design. Somewhat natural, but noticeable. Easy to apply.

- Hard Candy Bronzer in Tiki : Beautiful golden highlight. Great for a tanned look.

- Maybelline Babylips lipbalm in Grape and Cherry : super soft, a bit glossy and very hydrating
with just a hint of color. These are the berry and red toned ones. They give off a subtle color on the lips. Absolutely adore these!

- Canmake cream blush in a baby pink color : gives off a natural rosy glow. Nice dewy texture.

- NYC Sunny Bronzer : Not too dark. Great for bronzing up when you're very fair.

Wet n Wild gel liner in black : another repeat favorite. Very creamy, black and long lasting.

---

As you can tell from the picture, I also added three pink and gold bracelets which I have been wearing constantly lately. The first one is from Thailand, the middle one is from DealExtreme and the last one is from a local store called Suzy Shier.

That's all for this month's favorites! What were your favorite beauty products this month? Let me know in the comments :)

February 2013 Beauty Favorites

Since February is almost over, it's time for monthly favorites!

Here's a view of all the products I've been loving this month!

Lip Products : Carmex lipbalm and Maybelline Babylips lipbam (the minty one).

Both very smooth and healing. I hate the way the Carmex smells/tastes, but it does a wonderful job helping my poor chapped lips!

♥ Face Products :  Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Maybelline BB Cream and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Foundation.

The powder is great for helping my foundation stay on longer and it doesn't look cakey. As for the foundation, I love the dewy, silky finish it has. The coverage is pretty good too, without making it look like you're wearing a mask. The BB cream has light coverage and a pretty high SPF making it perfect for days I don't want to wear makeup, but still want to reduce the appearance of redness. I'm almost out of it (it's a super tiny container) and it's a bummer because it's not sold here in Quebec.

Skincare : Bioderma makeup remover, Soap & Glory Hand Food and Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 10
All amazing products in my book. The Bioderma is expensive, but I love how it removes every bit of dirt from my skin without being harsh (my skin is quite sensitive). It doesn't leave a tight feeling behind which is great since my skin is dry. As far as Hand Food goes, I really like the smell and the packaging. It's not too oily and absorbs really quickly. It's not my favorite hand cream ever, but it's definitely a favorite. Finally Persa-Gel has been one of my favorite products for at least a year now. It's super effective at clearing any blemish I might have. This is a new tube I've got whilst in Vegas a few weeks ago. It's a stronger formula than what I can get here in Quebec (I think you need a prescription for that here).

Nails : Sally Hansen Fiamond Strength Nail Color in Diamonds.

Not much to say about this other than it's super pretty over everything.

Brushes : All from Eco Tools; Blending brush, Large Shading brush and Kabuki brush.

Eco Tools is still my favorite makeup brush brand so far (who knows it might change now that I got a bunch of brushes by Real Techniques). All of their brushes are incredibly soft and apply products wonderfully. The blending brush is my favorite that I own, and I love the shading brush for my browbone highlight. The kabuki is tiny and I love it for travel.

Eye Products : Milani Liquif'Eye metallic eye liner pencil, Wet' n Wild Gel liner in black, Cover Girl the Clump Crusher Mascara, Wet' n Wild single eyeshadow in Nutty, The Balm Nude'Tude Palette and Stila In the Lights Palette

First off, the pencil is a repeat favorite. I've never had a liner so black and creamy. It applies without any pressure and it doesn't rub off easily. It's super affordable too! The gel liner is another purchase from Vegas. For some reason, this products isn't for sale here in Quebec. It's really cheap (4$ I think, compared to my Maybelline one which is at least 11$), super black and really creamy. Instant favorite!  The mascara is a product I'm kind of surprised to like. I was not a fan of the Lash Blast mascara and this is in the same collection. This mascara is amazing. It truly doesn't clump and the volume is very buildable. The curved brush is easy to use and I kind of love the packaging :)

Now for the eyeshadow :

First off the Nude'tude palette which I adore. It pretty much has every color I need for everyday wear, plus a large mirror  which makes it perfect for travel! The shadows are ultra buttery and pigmented. Couldn't be happier with this palette. ♥

my favorites colors from the Nude'tude palette

my favorites colors from the Nude'tude palette

I've had this palette by Stila for a while now. I love every color in the palette, but I have a few clear favorites. The matte beige shade is my perfect browbone highlighter and the matte pale brown is a great transition color. I love the shimmery colors for all over the lid. Just like the The Balm palette, the colors are very pigmented and easy to work with.

my favorites colors from the In the Lights Palette :  bare, kitten , bliss, champagne

Wet'n Wild Nutty Eyeshadow

From left to right : nutty, bare, kitten , bliss, champagne,  stubborn, stand-offish, selfish, sultry, seductive

Those are my favorites for the month of February. Have you tried any of these products? Did you enjoy them? Let me know you're favorites in the comments! I love discovering new products :)

Collective Haul : Beauty, Bath and Body Works, Shoes and Clothes!

Lately I've been shopping for clothes and shoes for my upcoming trip. I also picked up a couple other things along the way! Here is what I got :)

Tops from : Simons, Forever 21, Forever 21, Winners, Winners

Shorts from : Winners and Garage (isn't that the brightest neon coral ever? <3), Bathing suits from : Garage

A pair of Havaianas flip flops (got them at Winners for half the price!), Crocs (they go with everything and they are incredibly light, perfect for backpacking) and flip flops from Zellers

Rain jacket from Atmosphere, it was more than half price! Super light weight, nice fit, goes with everything, perfect for backpacking <3

Got both Stila products from Winners, 5$ each :D such a bargain! That pencil liner is worth 26$ I think

Bath and Body Works Semi-Annual sale is currently going on. These were all 3$ each :D

Tell me if I should review any of the makeup items on here! Packing post is coming soon! I have almost everything I need to start packing my bag, so as soon as I do, I'll show you how I do it!

Mini Sephora Haul : Benefit Tan About Town

I've been planning in my mind the cosmetics and toiletries for my next backpacking trip lately. (which will most likely take place at the end of june through the end of august) I was trying to figure out how to minize everything even more. Even though I already only bring travel sized products, I was thinking of ways to combine so, to bring formulas that take less space etc. I've actually had quite a few really useful ideas in the process. I'll most likely make a post soon about some tips on reducing the weight and size of your toiletry bag without bringing less products. For backpacking, it's especially important since you carry everything on your back. However, I still want to be able to have all my hair, face and shower things.

Anyway, I'm rambling here. Where I'm going with this is actually that while I was thinking about what products to bring and how to make them as small as possible, I started wondering about the makeup I would bring. I've pretty much decided on only a couple products and it's pretty minimal already, but I really want it to be as compact as possible. I mainly wanted to reduce the size of the mascara and bronzer I'm planning on packing because if I'm being realistic, there is no way I would go through a whole powder and mascara in two months anyway. I really want to bring just the exact amount I need. I went on Sephora.com (they have a new site by the way, love it!) and saw this really cheap Benefit set (always wanted to try Benefit products!) called Tan About Town. It was only 15$ and includes a deluxe sample size of their famous mascara Bad Gal, a deluxe sample size of their also well-known bronzer Hoola and a deluxe sample size of their compact cream to powder foundation Some kind of Gorgeous (not my color at the moment, but I might consider packing it for when I have a tan during the trip).

It's a cheap way to try out new products and see if I like them. It also feels like a treat since I never purchase high end makeup. I'll have a great mascara and powder bronzer with me for the days I want to be a little more made up during my trip.

The lady at the register also gave me a couple free perfume samples which I thought was very sweet. I'm not very fond of either scent though. One is very spicy and the other very floral. I tend to prefer sweet and slightly spicy exotic scents more, so this isn't really the kind of perfume I usually go for. I'll probably give them to my mom so she can try them out in case she likes them!

March 2012 Favourites

I haven't done a monthly favourite products in a while! I have been more into making myself up this month than I have been in a while so here are the products I enjoyed most in the process!

1 - Revlon PhotoReady foundation : I love the coverage and flawless skin it gives me. Plus the color Ivory matches me perfectly so I can apply it only where I need it for a super natural look.

2 - Stila In the Lights Palette : I haven't worn much eyeshadow besides this palette for a few weeks now.

3- Equate Facial Cleansing Towelettes : Not only are these ultra cheap, they have a lot of moisture, are quilted, remove all my makeup (even mascara and eyeliner) and are super soft. Love these! Also love the 60 pack so I don't have to repurchase as often :)

4 - N.Y.C. Sunny bronzer : It doesn't have any shimmer in it so it gives me a natural tan. Since spring is approaching, I'm kind of over the pasty white look!

5 - Garnier Ultra Lift Night Cream : this is super rich and creamy, but it absorbs quickly into my skin. Super moisturising and non greasy, it's perfect for my skin right now.

6- Maybelline the Falsies mascara : Love the curved brush, the volume it gives me and how black it is. Also love that is isn't too dry.

7 - Blistex Lip Medex lip balm : Not everyone might agree with this but I love the mediciney smell this product has. I also like that since it contains menthol it has a cooling effect. This month, my lips were so chapped, they burned. This product was a life saver!

8 - Flat face brush and small angled brush from the 22 piece Coastal Scents brush kit : Love the face brush for foundation, powder, blush and bronzer. It's extra soft and gives a flawless finish. Love the angled brush for lining my eyes. It's better for me than a larger angled brush since my eyes are super round. That way it's easier to follow the contours of my eyes.

9 - NYX Eyeliner Pencil in black : pretty black and applies without too much tugging. It's probably not the smoothest pencil liner out there, but it's the best I was able to find so far. Any suggestions on that?

Collective Haul : Zellers, Walmart, Drugstore

I've done quite a bit of shopping in the past month since I've been to Montreal a few times. There's a Zellers closing near my parents' house and all the cosmetics were 30-40% so I had to take advantage of it! The Zellers is being replaced by a Target soon, so I'm super excited about that! :D I also got some stuff from the drugstore and Walmart!

Anyway, here is what I got :

Everything I bought!

Maybelline Eyeshadow Quad in Natural Smokes

This will be perfect for more natural smokey eyes!

I don't think I had any shades like the lid and outer corner colors in my collection. Glad I picked this little palette up

Brand new Color Icon Bronzer from Wet n wild. I couldn't find the Natural bronzer from Rimmel I wanted so I got this instead :)

I wanted a deeper bronzer for spring and summer since the one I had is pretty subtle.

Essie Shine of the Times polish. I mentioned this in my drugstore wishlist. It's a beautiful flaky. It's simply perfect

Maybelline Colosssal Volum' Express mascara

Another of the products I mentionned in my wishlist. Walmart had it for 6$ less than what I had seen at Jean Coutu

Love this concealer for under my eyes! Maybelline Mineral power concealer. It was the last one at Zellers and it's my shade, score!

Revlon ColorStay Blemish concealer. Love this thing, it's super opaque!
This wet n Wild Blush I got at the Dollar store for 2$, couldn't pass that up

This is a Wet n Wild cream bronzer which I also found at the drugstore.

Once blended in, it gives a pretty bronzed glow!

Maybelline New York Eyestudio Gel liner in blackest black

I've had the brown of this for a while and I like it, but I'm more into black liner lately, so I picked this one up.

Two more Revlon lip butters, one in Strawberry Shortcake and the other in Creme Brule

A Revlon lipstick, can't remember the name

Maybelline Instant Rewind foundation in Creamy Ivory. Not sure yet, but this might have given me a rash :X

Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Ivory. Took advantage of the 30% off for this one, because it is normally really expensive (19$ or something)
That's all! Tell me in the comments below if you are interested in a full review of any of the products above! Also, if you have tried any of these, tell me what you think :)
