August 2013 Beauty and Random Favorites

Beauty Favorites

Victoria Secret Very Sexy Body Spray : it's a little heavier and sweeter than the other Victoria Secret fragrance that I have. I like this one in the evening.

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil : Leaves my hair silky smooth and very soft. It's smells amazing and it's super affordable.

Lush Lip Scrub : Gets rid of ALL the dead skin on my lips, like absolutely nothing else. Completely obsessed with this.

Ardell 120 Demi Lashes : I love that these lashes flare out at the outer corners. It really gives a nice look to the lashes.

Maybelline Color Tattoo (Bad to the Bronze and Barely Branded) : I've been loving using these bases under natural makeup looks. The two shades that are my favorites are exactly what I need for daily use.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer : a favorite for a long time now, and the sample size is still going strong!

Eco Tools Brushes : I love their powder brush, their buffing brush, their large flat shading brush and their smudge brush (which I use as a pencil brush) lately. I use them every time I do a makeup look.

Real Techniques brushes : Lately I'm using the Expert face brush, the contour brush and the large blending brush (which I use for concealer and cream highlighting products) a lot . Love the quality of these.

Black Eyeliner : Got this in Thailand, not sure of the brand, but it's my go-to eyeliner at the moment.

Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in Honey : Love the texture and great color. It's comfortable on the lips and stays on for a while. Really easy to wear on a day-to-day basis.

Cover Girl Clump Crusher Mascara : Still loving this mascara. I think it's been in every favorite for the past six months. Shows just how much I love this thing.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk : Very useful base for colorful looks. It will make any color pop.

Rimmel London blush in Bronze : I like the formula of this blush (the texture is silky and it's easy to apply), and it gives a nice bronzey look to the cheeks, perfect for summer.

Milani Brow Fix Brow Kit in Light : Perfect color for my eyebrows. I use this all the time now!

Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla and Macademia : this smells amazing, kind of like vanilla cake. Also, I love the packaging.

Favorites accessories

All of these bracelets and earrings are from Ardène, except the one that is on the far left, and the black and gold anklet.  The first one is a friendship bracelet with turtle patterns that I made myself and the anklet I got in Thailand last year.

Colors of the Rainbow Tag

Hey everyone! Today I'm doing the colors of the rainbow tag! I've seen this tag floating around the Internet for a while now and I think it's a lot of fun so I'm doing it for you today :)

I chose products that I love to represent each of the rainbow's colors. I think some of the colors are a bit different (blue instead of indigo, purple instead of violet) and I added pink also, but you get the point right? :P Anyway, let's get started!

♥ My rainbow favorites ♥

~ Red ~
For most of these, I went with the color of the packaging, since I don't have that many green or yellow makeup items per say. However, for red, I went for the color of the actual product rather than the packaging. I chose the Cherry Babylips by Maybelline. It's a nice red lipbalm that gives off a sheer tint of red to the lips and smells heavenly!

~ Orange ~
I got this face wash recently. I'm in love with the scrubbie thing that comes with it. It makes my face feel nice and clean, but also refreshed. The pretty orange bottle matches my current bathroom color scheme which is a bonus!

~ Yellow ~
This is another product that I got recently. It's the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil. It seems to leave my hair just as soft and shiny as my Chi Silk Infusion, but for a fraction of the price. I paid 8$ for this pretty big bottle. I also love that it is in spray form, which is a lot less messy. The smell is also wonderful. Love this! ♥

~ Green ~
This is the Clump Crusher mascara by Covergirl. It's probably my favorite mascara of all time. I've been using it nonstop ever since I got it back in January. It's probably time to replace it now, but it's still going strong. Makes my lashes super full and long without clumping. Best mascara ever! :)

~ Blue ~
I've been using this makeup remover on and off for years now. I have tried out a few other brands, but I keep going back to this Neutrogena Oil-Free one. As you can see, I'm almost through with this bottle as well. It works great to remove all my eye makeup, including waterproof mascara.

~ Purple ~
For purple, I chose this loose shadow by Darling Girl Cosmetics. Now, I have a ton of purple shadows in my collection, but this one was really a standout for me. It is magnificent. It's a beautiful light purple color with a strong blue/turquoise shift. It looks simply amazing when applied. If you're curious about how it looks on, check out the looks I made using it here and here.

 ~ Pink ~
Lastly, for pink, I chose this aptly named body spray from Pink by Victoria Secret. This is the Wild at heart scent. I picked it up a couple months ago on a trip to Montreal and ever since it has been my go-to everyday scent. It's light and citrusey, which I love for summer. Great fragrance!

I still have lots of good stuff left from previous years and university isn't specific on what you need to have, so what I chose I 100% based on what I needed and what I like to use to stay organised.

What I got

- Paper Mate Mechanical Pencil Pack : my favourite pencils!
- Post-It Cube

- 3 Flexible 1 inch Binders : I prefer the flexible kind because it's less bulky and easier to transport

- Refill Lead for Mechanical Pencils
- Post-It Tabs : very useful when I'm studying

My Favorite Neutral Eye shadows (Drugstore and High End)

Hi all! Today I want to share my favorite and most worn wearable neutral eye shadows. Basically, it's the colors that I wear most often from the Drugstore and from high end brands! I hope this helps :)

Drugstore Favorites
For drugstore favorites, we have as you can see a lot of Wet n Wild. The quality is outstanding and the pigmentation is very impressive for drugstore shadow. I also love the price tag (2$ for the singles, 3$ for the trios and 4$ for the palettes). I also chose a Rimmel single shadow in Backstage. The texture isn't as nice as Wet n Wild shadows in my opinion, but I really like the color.

High End Favorites
My High end favorites are from three different palettes :
1) Stila In the Lights Palette
2) Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette
3) The Balm Nude Tude Palette

Hope you all enjoyed this!

Summer Recipe : White Peach Sangria

Hello everyone! I haven't posted a recipe on here in a super long time. Sorry about that, I'm not cooking as much lately because of school so I don't have so many recipes to share. Today, I have a fun summer cocktail recipe to share, perfect for those hot nights when you feel like celebrating. It's a sweet Peach Nectar and white wine Summer Sangria. It's refreshing, it's sweet and it's super festive, I love it!

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Review and Swatches

A few months ago, to celebrate my two years of blogging, I decided to treat one of my readers and myself to a Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay. I'd been wanting one for ages so I decided to buy one for myself and give one away on the blog.

Ever since I got it, I can say that I have used almost nothing else in terms of eyeshadow. I've had ample time to play around with it and I now feel confident enough that I can give a thourough review of it. If you're interested in similar palette reviews you can check out my Nude Tude Review, Stila In the Lights Review and my BH 120 color 1st edition Review.

Review

The Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay is a neutral palette containing 12 matte, shimmery and glittery eye shadows. It's an everyday/wearable palette comparable to the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette and to the Nude Tude Palette by The Balm.

Pigmentation
The pigmentation of the Urban Decay Shadows is absolutely amazing. You only need a tiny bit of these because a little goes a long way. The colors are intense and saturated, including the matte shades. You can use them with or without a base.

Texture
The shadows are not overly powdery. The darker colors do tend to have a little fallout, especially the black color. There is one glitter color (Chopper) which is very soft, but so much so that a lot will come off when you put a brush in it. Nothing that tapping off your brush won't fix though. Other than that, they are very smooth and buttery feeling.

Wear
These stay on all day when applied over a base. I cannot really say how they perform without a base since I always use one.

Application
Application with the shadows from the Naked 2 Palette is wonderful. The shadows glide on easily and are quite easy to blend.

Color selection
I think the variety of colors included in the Naked 2 Palette is perfect. Compared to the Naked 1 Palette, the color scheme is on the cooler side, which is right up my alley. I love that it has a matte black shade, several shimmery pale lid colors and a matte highlight shade. The palette has everything I need on an everyday basis.

Packaging

LookI love the Sleek metallic packaging. It looks nice and sophisticated in my opinion.

Material
As I mentioned before, the palette is made out of metal. It's very easy to clean and it's quite sturdy, enough so that I'm comfortable traveling with it, because I'm not afraid the shadows will break easily.

Size
The Naked Palette is long and thin. It's not too bulky, making it easy to travel with (as you can see it's a recurrent theme with me).

Mirror
The Naked 2 Palette has a long mirror that stretches across the entire length of the palette. It's nice and big and you can easily use it to apply makeup when you're on the go. It's very practical.

Included items
It comes with a double ended brush and a mini pocket rocket lipgloss which I both never use. I think it used to come with a double ended 24/7 liner, but not anymore which is a complete bummer. (or was it the Naked 1 Palette I'm not sure anymore).

---

Swatches

My favorite colors are :  Foxy, Bootycall, Tease, Snakebite, Verve and Busted

Note : All shadows are swatched dry using a brush over Urban Decay Primer Potion.

 Foxy, Half baked, Bootycall, Chopper

Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol

 Verve, YDK, Busted, Blackout

---

Overall thoughts : I love how versatile this palette is! It has all the colors I could want or need for my everyday looks. It's my favorite palette now and I can't stop using it.

Overall Score : 10/10

Would recommend? Definitely! ♥

Summer Makeup : Neutral Eye With Electric Blue Liner

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing a summer makeup look using a new electric blue liner that I just got recently. I think it's super wearable and it's an easy way to wear color in the summer time.

For the neutral part of the this look I used the Naked 2 Palette. I did Bootycall on the lid, Snakebite in the crease and blended it out with Tease. I have Verve in the inner corner and more Snakebite on the lower lashline. The blue liner is from Personnelle.

For fun, I added a metallic darker blue LA Girl liner in the outer part of the liner to do some sort of gradient effect. I think it looks nice!

That's it for this post! Hope you enjoyed it! Would you ever wear something like this? Let me know in the comments. Also since I've finished the My Little Pony Series I'd love it if you all could give me ideas and suggestion of makeup looks you'd like to see on my blog in the future! ♥

DIY : Earring for Sensitive Ears

Hey everyone! Today i'm back with a cool DIY idea that I've come up with recently. It's super easy and it has completely changed my life! (At least in terms of being able to wear earrings again!) I know many of you out there might have this issue as well : I cannot wear jewelry that isn't made of real gold. I can tolerate necklaces and bracelets if they're not too tight (I can't do watches for example), but rings and earrings that aren't gold are a no-go for me. My ears swell up, become itchy and red in a matter of minutes unless I wear gold earrings.

It's especially annoying because I really like costume jewelry. If I were to buy a pair of hoops made of real gold, I'd have to shell out at least 75$ if not more, which is definitely over my budget! So I thought of a way to make cheap costume jewelry wearable for me and others that have the same issue! If you want to know how I do it, keep reading :)

I got these for 1,50$ each at Ardène. Normally I would never be able to wear them, but with this quick DIY project, I can now have super cute earrings!

What you will need

- Square Flat Nose Pliers*
- Round Nose Pliers*
- Inexpensive pair of earrings, preferably gold in color (I couldn't find white gold hooks, so all my hook are gold in color, meaning it matches gold earring better. You could use them for silver colored earring too though). It needs to be hook earrings. Studs or hoops won't work with this technique .
- A pair of 10 carat gold earring hooks. I got mine at a local jewelry making supply store. They were 5$ a pair so this pair of earrings cost me 6,50$ pretty good right?

* You can get these in jewelry making supply store or online.

Step 1
Using the flat pliers, open the metal part of the hook that isn't melded into the rest of the metal. It should be on the loop at the bottom of the hook, close to where the hook attaches to the earring. You should then be able to remove the original hook from the rest of the earring.

Step 2
Open the loop of the gold hook the same way you did the other, using the flat pliers.

Step 3
Now that the gold hook is open you can slide it the opening into the earring. Make sure to place it so that once the hook goes into your ear, the earring is facing the right way.

Step 4
Lastly, using the round nose pliers, close the loop of the hook so that the hook is now securely attached to the earring.

The results
And that's it! It's super easy and now you can wear inexpensive earrings without getting uncomfortable reactions! I'm so glad I thought of this! I can't stop buying earrings now :P

I hope this helps and that you liked this quick DIY post! Let me know in the comments if you try this! ♥
