My Little Pony Series : Princess Celestia Inspired Makeup

Hey everyone :)

Today I decided to go ahead and do a look inspired by Princess Celestia! I had a hard time coming up with a look that included all the colors and that looked nice and not too clowny. I think I like the result after all! I went a little nuts and also did a pastel gradient brow, it's pretty cool looking in my opinion :P Also excuse the lame half picture of her cutie mark. It was a real pain to recreate. I had to make a stencil and even then, I don't like how it turned out.

Beauty and Accessories Haul : Ardène, Spring, VS, Forever 21 and Drugstore

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing a little (maybe not that little actually!) haul from my recent trip to Montreal. I hadn't been shopping in a while so I went a little crazy with accessories and beauty products.

Here's all that I got

I didn't get that much makeup, but I went for skin, nails and accessories this time!

- Bag from Spring (30$)
- Wallet from Access (20$)
- Accessories : bracelets, scarf, hair clip and earrings from Ardène, Necklaces from Forever 21
- Skin care : Bioderma, Laroche Posay from Shopper's Drugmart
- Mascara and Makeup wipes from Shopper's Drugmart
- Perfume from Victoria Secret
- Nail polish, base and top coat from Winners

---

On an unrelated topic, I'm moving (yes, again!) very soon. If everything goes according to plan, I'll be moving around mid June in a new building a few minutes away from where I live. It's closer to the university and much much nicer! We haven't had confirmation yet, so I'm anxiously waiting to know if we got it. Wish me luck!

That's all for today :) Hope you enjoyed this Haul!

Disney Makeup Series : Cruella De Vil Inspired

Today I'm sharing a look that I did inspired by a Disney character. This time around, I chose to get inspired by a villain from the 101 Dalmatians. I chose Cruella De Vil, the frazzled-looking, fur-wearing meanie that tried to steal the dalmatians.

I went for something dramatic with sharps edges to represent her evil personality  I even went for strong arched black brows to complement the look. Anyway, it's something a little different for me, definitely not something wearable, but still fun to do! I hope you like it :)

---

I think theses lashes are my new favorites lashes. They're from kiss I think they were 2 pairs for 6$, a real bargain considering my Ardell ones usually cost 6$ a piece. You can't really tell from the image but Cruella has green earrings. She also sometimes wears green shadow. That's where the green is from in case you were wondering!

Products used :

Base
  • NYX Eyeshadow Base - Skin Tone
  • Milani Liquif'Eye Liner Pencil - Black

Eyeshadow & Brows
  • BH 120 Palette (1st Edition)
  • The Balm Nude Tude Palette

Liner & Lashes
  • Kiss 05 Lashes
  • Maybelline One by One Mascara
  • Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner Pencil - Black

That's all for today. Did you guys enjoy this look? Let me know in the comments :)

I ♥ Drugstore Tag

Hey everyone! If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you probably know that I'm all about drugstore makeup. So it's only fitting that I do the I ♥ Drugstore tag! I've been thinking about doing it for a while now so here goes!

---

The Questions

1. What is your favorite drugstore makeup brand overall?
I love Maybelline lately for a variety of products.Emoticon

Cheek : Rimmel blush
Lips : Maybelline Babylips

3. Least favorite product?
N.Y.C. Lipstain.

4. What is the best makeup bargain?
Wet n Wild shadows and blushes.

5. What is your favorite underdog product? (Something you love that gets overlooked?)
Wet n Wild Gel liner.

Revlon foundations.

7. Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!
Don't have any because I don't own much high end stuff.

EOS Lips balm, other than the fact that they are round shaped I just don't get the hype. They're really not very moisturizing and they're waxy. Not my cup of tea.

Beginner Series : Applying False Lashes in 10 Easy Steps

Hey everyone! Today, I'm back with another advice post for beginners : how to apply fake lashes. Many girls (including me) struggle with applying false lashes at first. With a little practice I've developed a few tips and tricks to make my life easier so I'm sharing them with you today!

---
What you need
- Tweezers
- Eyelash Glue
- Fake lashes
- Black gel or liquid liner
- An object that you can put glue on. I use a concealer.

---

Choosing your lash glue

Brand : The first thing to keep in mind when buying a an eyelash adhesive is the brand. Not all brands perform equally therefore choosing a high quality glue will give you better results.

Eye Sensitivity : Some brands can be irritating for your eyes. In my experience, the glue sometimes included with Ardell lashes does this, it stings my eyes so it doesn't work for me.

Color : Lash glues come in either clear or black. If you are a beginner, it's easiest to stick to clear to avoid getting black glue all over your lid while you work on getting them placed correctly.

With all of this said, my favorite glue is the Duo Clear Eyelash Glue.  It's fairly around the 6$.

---

Applying False Lashes in ten steps

1. Finish your makeup look as you normally would with liner and mascara.

2.
Apply some glue on your chosen object. Let it sit for ~30 seconds until it becomes a bit tacky.
3. Pick up the lashes with tweezers and apply the glue uniformly onto the lash band.

4. Before applying, hold the lashes in front of your eye and adjust the lashes' placement.

5. Once you have adjusted the placement, stick the middle portion of the lash on the center of your lid as close as possible to your lash line. Then, stick both ends as well.

6. Adjust the lashes while the glue is still wet to ensure proper placement.

7. Let it sit for 10-15 seconds.

8. Using your thumb and index finger, press the lashes with your own natural lashes to ensure that they blend well with your lashes and that they are secure.

9. Let the glue dry for a couple minutes. It should become clear mostly clear, but it may affect the look of your eyeliner underneath. No worries, we can fix it with a little eye liner.
10. Make sure that the lash band is hidden by applying liner wherever the band is noticeable.

---
Removing the lashes

The best way to remove lashes is with makeup remover and a cotton bud. I advise against pulling them off since it can damage the sensitive skin on your eyes as well as your natural lashes.

To remove lashes, I saturate a cotton bud with makeup remover. Then, I hold it at the base of my lashes for a few seconds so that the makeup remover has time to loosen the glue. After that, I carefully rotate the cotton bud near my lash line until the lashes come off on their own. Here is a little video showing the technique I use.

The video quality isn't all that great, sorry about that!
Gotta figure out how to work my camera's video mode.

---

Caring for your lashes

If you plan on reusing your lashes more than once (which I usually do), you need to care for your fake lashes in order to keep them nice and in good shape. Here are a few tips to help you make sure that you care for your lashes well.

- Don't pull off the lashes. It can be damaging your your sensitive eye area as well as the lashes.
- Try to avoid putting mascara over the lashes. Apply mascara beforehand.
- Remove any glue that is stuck to the lash band using tweezers.
- Keep your lashes in their original packaging when you store them.

Beauty Blogger Tag

Hi everyone, today I'm doing a fun tag I saw on the blog of Emily from Beauty Broadcast! It's beauty blogger tag.  I've been watching her videos and reading her blog for a long time now and I particularly enjoyed this tag. I think the questions are interesting so I'm doing it for your all :)

---

Questions
1. Is your hair naturally curly or straight?
My hair is naturally pin straight. It's a bit frizzy sometimes, but other than that it's very straight.

2. Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?
I don't dye my hair at the moment. I used to try different shades as a teen, but I haven't dyed my hair in about 6 years, probably because most colors I had were a disaster! I think my natural color suits me best, but I would love to try blond again someday.

The reason I don't color my hair anymore

Both pictures are super old (15-16 years old), don't judge :P

3. Do you wear the same style everyday, or do you change it?
I either leave it down and straight or I have a pony tail or bun if it's messy. I don't do much to it really. In the summer I like doing a french braid to get it out of the way.
Love doing french braids when it's hot. I miss my summer tan :(
4. Do you do your own mani/pedi or go to a salon?
I do my own and I'm getting better at making it look nice :D I've only had my nails done at a salon once for prom a couple of years back.

5. How often do you change your nail polish?
I don't wear it all the time. Sometimes I'll change it three times in a week and other times I won't wear any for a month or more. Depends on my mood and how much free time I have.

6. Do you polish your toes in the winter or just the summer?
Only in the summer and if I'm wearing sandals. I don't really see the point in spending time on it if it's going to be hidden all the time.

7. How long does it take for you to put on makeup?
It depends on what kind of look I'm going for, but if I decide to wear eye liner it takes at least 15-20 minutes. For everyday, I opt for a little foundation, powder, blush and mascara and that doesn't take more than 5 minutes.

8. What do you do first? Face or eyes?
Eyes definitely. I often get fallout from the shadows I use so I prefer to do the face last to make sure that it's perfect.

9. Do you collect makeup or just buy what you need when you need it?
I guess I'm a collector. I don't have a ton of products, but I do have a few options for every kind of product which is more than just the bare minimum. I also love variety especially in terms of eye shadow so I have quite a few of those.

I guess this proves I'm a bit more of a collector :P

10. How often do you wear false eyelashes?
Almost every time I do a makeup look for my blog. It doesn't look complete without it and it adds more interest to a look. In everyday life, I never wear them. I don't think I've ever worn fake lashes out of the house. It's kind of funny now that I think about it.

11. Do you do a full face of makeup everyday?
No, I rarely wear a full face of makeup out of the house. I might go for it if I'm particularly motivated or if it's a special occasion, but otherwise I'm generally more comfortable with minimal makeup.

12. Do you wear makeup when you're home alone or with family?
Sometimes when I do looks for my blog I will. Otherwise if I'm just lounging around the house I probably won't.

13. Will you leave the house without makeup?
Most of the time I don't wear any kind of makeup when I go out. I do enjoy doing my makeup though so I often do a bit of foundation and mascara, especially if I'm a bit tired that day.

14. How many high-end products do you have?
Very little. I'd say my collection is composed of 95% drugstore and 5% high-end. I have a few shadow palettes that are high-end, but everything else is drugstore.

15. Do you plan your OOTD every night or decide when you're getting dressed?
I don't really plan my outfits beforehand unless I'm going to a formal occasion. I usually just grab what's clean and comfy. I'm not very fashionable.

16. How often do you change your handbag?
I have one bag at a time usually. It's usually an inexpensive bag so it gets pretty battered within a few months. I change it when it starts showing wear.

17. What time do you wake up and go to sleep?
With school and everything, it's hard for me to keep a regular sleep schedule. I like to study at night so right now for the end of my trimester, I wake up at noon and go to sleep around 5 am. If I have to go to class in the morning, I sleep a few hours go to class, nap 2-3 hours in the afternoon and go to sleep at my normal time.

18. How often or when do you workout?
I am the worse couch potato. I don't exercise much during the school year. I get all my exercise in during the summer time when we go backpacking.

19. Left handed or right handed?
Right.

20. How tall are you?
5'6"

21. Do you speak any foreign languages?
I speak French, English and a little Spanish (not fluently, but I can read it and understand simple conversations).

22. How many pets do you have?
I have three cats :)

23. How often are you on Blogger?
Everyday! Lately I've been working a lot on my blog so I spend several hours a day on here. I also like to keep up with my favorite blogs. I have been preparing loads of blog posts in advance since this is the end of my trimester and things are about to get hectic!

24. Do you read comments posted on blogs?
I sometimes read them, but I'm mostly read the comments on my own blog.

25. Do you keep a list of products to try as you see other posts?
Yep, I have a beauty wishlist that I like to keep on Evernote (best note taking app in my opinion). I'm list list maker, what can I say :P

26. How did you come up with your blog name?
I'm not particularly proud of my blog name. At first, I thought it would only be a temporary name until I got a better idea of what to call it. It ended up just staying like that. It's pretty self explanatory, I like to post about things I'm passionate about, hence the "favorite things" part. Luhivy is just my online nickname. (random note : it was the name of my first character on World of Warcraft).

27. What kind of camera do you use for your photographs?

I use a Canon Rebel T3i.

28. How often do you clean your house?
At least once a week, I pick up everything that not where it's supposed to be and clean the surfaces. As far as walls, floors, windows, etc, I usually do it once every six months and spot clean when necessary.

29. What's your favorite color?
Lately I've been really liking pastel peach.

30. Do you swear?
Not really unless I'm really mad about something.

31. What are you doing with the rest of your day?
Studying and I might listen to an episode of Bones (I'm totally obsessed with the series lately).

---

Phew! It's a pretty long tag! I hope you enjoyed reading this and I tag all of you to do it :)

Disney Makeup Series : The Little Mermaid - Ariel Inspired

Hey everyone! Today, I'm back with another makeup look from my Disney Series, it's Ariel from the Little mermaid. It was one of my favorite Disney movies as a child, so I was particularly excited to do this. I even had an Ariel barbie doll that I really loved :D

I thought I would do something unusual for me for this look so I decided to try a colorful brow! I'm not sure it turned out as nice as I wanted it to, but it's still pretty cool anyway :)

---
I really love how the look turned out and I'm in love with those lashes. I think it looks particularly good with the different textures in the inner and outer corner. It kind of elongates the eyes too, very pretty ♥

Updated : What's In My Purse (2013 Edition)

Hey everyone! Today I'm doing an updated What's In My Purse post! Last time I did this was last year and I'm carrying another bag now, so it's a good time to do an updated version. Check out last year's What's in my Purse.

---
The bag I'm carrying at the moment
I love the hardware details, the color and the material. Unfortunately it has started to fall apart.

I really want this purse  to switch out the one I have right now.

I love that it is Hello Kitty, but still somewhat classy (at least for me :P). Sadly it's a lot more expensive than what I usually like to spend on a purse. I guess if it's really good quality then it would be worth it right?

What's in my current purse

Let's see, what do we have here?

♥ Tissues
♥ Wallet
♥ Nivea Creme
♥ Advil
♥ Tums
♥ Dental Floss
♥ Hand Sanitizer
♥ Mini Lint Roller
♥ Hand Cream
♥ Gum
♥ Keys
♥ Cards Wallet
♥ Ear Phones
♥ Wet Ones
♥ Phone
♥ Mini Hair Brush
♥ Coin Purse
♥ Pad Lock
♥ Band Aid
♥ Cold Pills

That's all I have in my purse at the moment! What are your essentials when you leave the house? Let me know in the comments below :)

Beauty Review : Soap & Glory Hand Food

Today I have another review for you all! I'm reviewing the popular hand cream by Soap & Glory, Hand Food! If you want to know if it's worth all the hype that it's been getting, then keep on reading :)

---

Review

Texture : The cream is quite consistent, not too runny, but not like a butter either.

Application : It spreads easily leaving a silky finish behind. It absorbs almost instantly to the skin. You don't get a silicone or greasy feeling afterwards.

Moisturizing Power : It is pretty moisturizing  but not the most I have seen. It's good if you hands a getting a little dry or to keep them moisturized  but it might not be enough if your skin is very dry. I found that during the winter months this wasn't exactly enough for me, but now that we don't have the heat on anymore (it is very drying for my skin), it is more than enough to keep my hands soft and supple.

Scent : It smells clean and a bit floral to me. At first I was a bit skeptical about the scent since I was picking up mostly the floral side of it, but once you get used to the scent, there is more to it then just the flower smell. It's quite a pleasant smell in my opinion.

Packaging : The packaging is one of my favorite aspects of the products. It's super cute and girly and it looks great on top of my makeup table.

Price : This size (4.2 fluid ounce) is 10$ at Sephora. I think it's a fair price for the size.

Availability : Unfortunately I haven't been able to find this in Quebec yet even though Sephora is supposed to be stocking it. I got mine in Vegas. Even Shopper's Drugmart which carries most Soap & Glory products doesn't have it. So it's not the most easy to come across if you live here in Quebec. Otherwise I think it's widely available.

---

Overall : I definitely recommend this hand cream if you can get your hands on it. It's affordable and it does a great job of moisturizing your hands. The silky texture is very pleasant and it doesn't leave a greasy feeling behind which means you don't have to worry about getting everything greasy after you have applied.

That's all for today's review! Let me know in the comments what other products you would like see reviewed on this blog! ♥
